Technical and financial terms used throughout the Marvell KB. Cross-linked from technical articles where the term first appears.

Architectures

POH: Plasmonic-Organic-Hybrid modulator. Plasmonic metal structures concentrate the optical mode into a sub-wavelength volume filled with EO polymer. Polariton (acquired by Marvell Apr 2026) is the leading POH commercializer.

xPU / ASIC: Custom AI accelerator silicon designed for hyperscaler-specific workloads. Marvell's custom-silicon design-win pipeline includes Trainium 2/3 (AWS), Maia (Microsoft), TPU 8i + MPU (Google), Arke (Meta).
Photonic Fabric: Celestial AI's all-optical scale-up GPU interconnect. Acquired by Marvell Feb 2 2026 ($2.04B equity to 131 accredited investors per Form D 0001835632-26-000001). Targets FY28 Q4 $500M ARR.
Trainium: AWS custom AI training accelerator co-designed with Marvell. Trainium 2 / 3 generations fully subscribed per Apr 2026 commentary. Marvell silicon-engineering scope spans physical implementation + IP integration.

DPU: Data Processing Unit. Marvell's OCTEON family — CN20K is the current dev tree visible in Linux upstream. Targets infrastructure offload (networking, storage, security) on the host data path.
CXL: Compute Express Link. Cache-coherent fabric for memory pooling / disaggregation. XConn (acquired Feb 10 2026) brings switch/fabric IP for CXL data-center scale-up.

Coherent DSP: Digital Signal Processor for coherent optical transport. Marvell Inphi/Orion line — 5nm 800ZR-class shipping; successor under design. Pairs with optical front-ends (TFLN / POH / InP).
1.6T / 3.2T / 6.4T: Per-port aggregate bandwidth tiers for AI-datacenter optical interconnects. 1.6 Tb/s = 8×200G or 4×400G; 3.2T target 2027-2028; 6.4T longer-range. The window where Polariton POH integration adds value.
CPO: Co-Packaged Optics. Optical I/O integrated onto the same package as the switch ASIC, replacing pluggable transceivers. Marvell roadmap targets CPO insertion as bandwidth scales.

Form 4: SEC insider-transaction filing. Filed within 2 business days of the transaction. Marvell has 431 Form 4s in archive (2021-04-21 → 2026-04-21).
10-K / 10-Q: Annual / quarterly SEC filing. Marvell fiscal year ends ~Feb 1; FY2026 ended 2026-01-31; FY2027 quarters land May / Aug / Nov / Mar.
